Kamran Hakim

Kamran Hakim, born in July 1941, is an American multibillionaire real estate developer of Iranian Jewish descent. He is renowned as one of New York City's largest private landlords and the founder of the Hakim Organization, established in 1978. Hakim's business model focuses on acquiring rent-stabilized buildings in need of infrastructure investments, making necessary capital improvements, and transitioning them to market rate. His portfolio includes over 200 buildings concentrated primarily on New York City's Upper West Side and Upper East Side, collectively valued at more than $7 billion. Additionally, Hakim owns 3,000 market-rate multifamily rental units in Los Angeles.

Notable projects in his career include the construction of the 480-unit Anthem on the East Side of Midtown Manhattan in 2003 alongside his son, Scott Hakim. In 2012, he purchased the historic El Royale in Hollywood for $29.5 million. Further ventures include the development of 1 QPS in 2017 and the acquisition of a significant vacant site in Gowanus, Brooklyn, the same year.
